Kubernetes Integration

Container visibility is generally an important element to understanding the context of your cloud costs. The specifics of how you get the Kubernetes information will differ based on your cloud provider:

  • AWS - In order to see cluster cost breakdown, you’ll need to install CloudZero’s integration / agent onto your nodes. Instructions on deploying our HELM chart can be found in CloudZero’s documentation.

  • GCP - If you’ve connected GCP using a detailed billing extract and have enabled cost allocation for a cluster, you should be able to see your cluster details without any formal integration. For instructions on enabling cost allocation within GKE, please refer to CloudZero’s documentation.

Once you’ve followed the instructions above, Cluster, Namespace, Workload and Label detail can be found within the CloudZero Explorer and available to Dimensions. For more information about exploring the Kubernetes detail within the CloudZero Explorer, please refer to the CloudZero documentation.

Common Questions

Do you support Amazon ECS?

  • ANSWER - No. With that said, if you’re using Fargate then you can activate the following tags for cost allocation tagging to get Cluster and Service level detail: aws:ecs:clustername and aws:ecs:servicename

Can I get historical Kubernetes detail?

  • ANSWER - No. You will get as much detail as when you deployed CloudZero’s Kubernetes integration within AWS / Azure or tuned on cost allocation within GKE

Do you support AWS’ Split Cost Allocation Data (SCAD) feature?

  • ANSWER - No. CloudZero is currently working on supporting SCAD

Can I see pod level cost?

  • ANSWER - No. CloudZero currently shows costs down to the deployment / workload
